That is, what are the work phases that I follow to create my 3D works?

After the project offer has been approved, the preparation phase of a 3D visualization order begins.

If the project to be visualized is still in an initial phase and therefore offers few inputs for a mature and definitive representation, I elaborate a scenario using suitable reference images. After determining the concept for the further course of the project, there are four main phases until the visualization is complete, after which there is still the possibility to apply variations to the project:

1 - Basic scene modeling

 

In the first phase I dedicate myself completely to the 3D modeling of the scene on the basis of floor plans, drawings, sketches, CAD data that the client passes to me. In this phase I use a generic white material applied to all the models in order to have a better momentary general view.

Using this material it is easier to find one or more optimal viewing angles and therefore already have an idea of the general lighting.

The low level of detail at this stage of the project allows me to achieve quick coordination and flexible adjustments until the next stage.

Once the scene has been completely modeled and the perspective has been determined, I move on to the next stage, namely the study of the general lighting and the positioning of the rooms.

2 - Light balancing and room setting

 

What I try to achieve in this second phase is a good hierarchy of lights, which can be obtained by dividing the lights on stage into 3 categories of importance:

- Primary light: it is the key light, the one that creates the main shadows and is the  

                first to be positioned on stage and that gives the direction

                main to the shadows.

- Secondary light: Used to lighten too dark shadows created by light

                  main and is the second to be placed on stage.

​

- Fill Light: Covers areas that may remain dark, perhaps

                      behind the furniture, inside the furniture doors. They don't create

                      too strong shadows.

​

At this point I position the cameras on stage looking for an optimal general or detailed view and set the general settings.

3 - Texturing

 

Once I have positioned all the lights, generated a good hierarchy of lights, created and set up the rooms, I can move on to assigning all the materials previously agreed with the customer to the various 3D models.

From the dull roughness of a stone wall to the delicate unevenness of a wood grain to smooth, brushed stainless steel - each object receives an authentic texture whose properties such as transparency and reflection afterwards can ensure a convincing overall picture.

 

If I do not have enough information on these topics at this point, I will be happy to advise the client. If necessary, the actual implementation of these arguments can also be completely left to me.

4 - Render and Post-Production

 

This is the final stage of all 3D visualization work.

 

This is the final stage of the visualization project. First, the scene is rendered in the desired final format in the final resolution.

Post-production follows, the last step before sending.

The rendering is modified in the image processing software to fine-tune the moods of the lighting, any adjustments to multiple images, camera filters and other "tricks".
